SUPER CARGO HANDLED AT MIRI PORTa
Miri Port had scored yet another milestone in its cargo handling activities for having successfully handled huge sized heavy lift cargo on 6th June 2007.
The cargo comprised of 4 units of huge sized heavy lifts measuring about 29m x 5m x 5m (LWH) and weighing about 90 metric tonnes each, and also another 2 units high structure skids. The FWKOs and skids were fabricated in and shipped from Malacca for Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. MCOT's rejuvenation project.
It was anticipated that the completion of the rejuvenation works in MCOT would bring about an increase in oil and gas activities in Miri. The increase in such activities would directly translate into higher demand for port's facilities and services from petroleum production and exploration-related companies.
MPA believes that it has the potential to diversify and intensify its activities in providing the total logistics and support services and shall be able to effectively function as an "Integrated Supply Base" for Miri s oil and gas industries.
